The scale of security provided is based on recommendation of the state level security review committee comprising of IGP (Intelligence), Chairman, Joint Director, SIB (Imphal), Special Secretary (Home) and Superintendent of police (CID), Gaikhangam said while replying to a question in the Assembly yesterday.
He said as per the guidelines issued by the Union Home Ministry, the committee reviewed the scale of security provided to protected persons, including former ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats every six months.
NCP member L Ibomcha Singh, who raised the issue, said the amount spent on providing security to former ministers, MLAs and officials was a huge amount and wanted the government to check and reduce it.
