Security in government hospitals have been beefed up after alleged incidents of beating of doctors by the kin of patients on six occasions.
Around 15 to 20 home guards have been deployed in hospitals across the city, a government official said.
However, doctors' association said that there are several hospitals where adequate security is missing.
"Home guards have been deployed inside some government hospitals, but there are many hospitals which still are lacking on the security front.
"We had a meeting with the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendra Jain and they have assured us that in a day or two more home guards will be deployed in rest of the government hospitals," said a senior member of Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA).
Yesterday, Jain had written to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi, seeking police protection for doctors at government hospitals.
"Incidents of violence against doctors in government hospitals are reported regularly. The frequency of such incidents seems to have increased recently. As a result, resident doctors of all hospitals went on strike," Jain wrote in his letter.
Doctors under FORDA went on two-day strike which was called off on June 23 after Delhi government invoked Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against them to normalise the functioning of the hospitals run by it.
Delhi government had also accepted 19 demands put forth by the striking doctors.
