A group of security personnel noticed some militants were travelling in a vehicle at Banderpora in Pulwama and started chasing them, a police official said.
The militants abandoned the vehicle while fleeing the spot and fired a few rounds, the official said.
He said the security forces have launched a cordon and search operation in the area, which was going on till last reports came in.
