Tight security arrangements would be made in the seven districts of Uttar Pradesh sharing their borders with poll-bound Bihar.
In the wake of Bihar assembly polls, slated to begin from October 12, detailed instructions have been issued by the DGP headquarters, IG (law and order) A Satish Ganesh told reporters today.
Ganesh said that 42 police stations of seven districts, including Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Deoria, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli and Sonbhadra share border with Bihar.
These districts fall under Gorakhpur, Azamgarh and Varanasi divisions.
The polling will be held in the above mentioned districts on October 16, October 26 and November 1.
Outlining the poll preparations in the districts, Ganesh said that 11 coordination meetings have been held with the commissioners, IGs, district magistrate and police chiefs along with other staff between August 4 to September 27.
It has been decided to set up 73 border posts in these districts. While 22 each would be set up in Kushinagar and Deoria, 20 will be set up in Ballia, 12 in Chandauli, three each in Ghazipur and Sonbhadra and one in Maharajganj, he said.
The IG said that atleast one sub-inspector and three constables would be posted on each post, which would become active two days before polling in Bihar.
He said that videography of every check post would be done.
Ganesh said that 53 places of public movement have been identified where round the clock pickets would be deployed.
For patrolling in remote areas, 56 teams have been constituted which would mainly check smuggling of arms and money and movement of notorious elements.
The IG said that directives have been issued to give names and mobile numbers of nodal officers, ASPs, DySPs and SHOs to the officers concerned in Bihar.
He added that a video-conferencing would be held with the officials of the Election Commission and further action would be taken as per the directives.
