The head pontiff of the ancient Nanguneri Sri Vanumamali Mutt Srimath Kaliyan Vanumamali Ramunuja has been admitted to a private hospital here following old age related problems.
The 84-year-old seer is a scholar in Sanskrit and Tamil and a musicologist, mutt sources said today.
He is the 30th head of the mutt.
The committee of the Mutt is now examining appointment of a successor to him.
Sri Thothatri temple, one of the 108 holy Vaishnava shrines, is attached to the 600 year old mutt at Nanguneri, 25 km from here.
