"Measures being taken for conservation, preservation and showcasing of the rich cultural heritage of all the three regions - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh - came up for detailed discussion during over hour-and-a-half meeting between Selja and Vohra at Raj Bhavan this evening, an official spokesman said.
He said Selja briefed the Governor about the current status of the various sites of archaeological and cultural heritage importance being conserved by Archaeological Survey of India in the state.
The Governor said the state has a rich treasure of monuments and other icons of cultural heritage which are invaluable from the historical, cultural and civilisational perspectives and are also of significant importance as symbols of centuries old secular traditions of the country.
Vohra also solicited Selja's interest and support in the Mughal Gardens of Kashmir securing World Heritage Site status from UNESCO.
