Pronouncing the judgement yesterday, Justice A A Awate of the industrial court here sentenced Sandipan Bhumre, who is also the chairman of Sant Eknath co-operative sugar factory, and its managing director Bhimrao Doke holding them guilty for not abiding by the court's orders in connection with a petition filed by a retired employee of the factory.
According to prosecution, Shaikh Gafoor Hussain had filed the petition with the industrial court in 2005 saying the company did not pay him retirement benefit amount of Rs 2.66 lakh despite being served an order by the court and this amounted to contempt of court.
