Send proposal to Centre for PMAY benefits: Naik to Akhilesh

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today wrote a letter to Chief Minister Akilesh Yadav for sending an integrated proposal to the central government for helping the urban poor get subsidised houses under the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna'.
In the letter, Naik asked the chief minister to instruct the state's urban development ministry to promptly send an integrated proposal in this regard, a Raj Bhawan release said.
"Being the governor, I act as a bridge between the central and state governments," he said, adding, "I hope that in the interest of state's development the chief minister will soon take a decision for sending the proposal".

"During his meeting with the Urban Development minister Venkaih Naidu in New Delhi on August 30, the matter was discussed," the release said.
"He (Naik) was told that under the scheme, which was started on June 25 last year, the target is to provide two crore people with houses at subsidised rates by 2022 and that Uttar Pradesh was yet to send a proposal in this regard whereas 21 states have already sent their proposals," the release added.
