Hallegua died on Tuesday following cardiac arrest and the last rites were performed yesterday. He was wheel-chair bound.
The body of Hallegua, who was the warden and leader of the community, was laid to rest at the Jewish cemetery at Mattancherry.
A memorial prayer service was held this morning at the Jewish synagogue.
There are now only two men and six women, including a 90-year-old, in the Jewish community at Mattancherry, who consider themselves as 'Pardeshi Jews'.
Most of the younger generation has migrated to Israel and other countries.
