Seoul conclave: Top commanders of around 30 countries discuss

Top commanders of around 30 countries including from the Indian Army discussed the evolving security situation in the Pacific region and North Korea's nuclear test at a key conclave in Seoul.
The four-day-long Pacific Armies Chiefs Conference, which began yesterday, has on its agenda extensive deliberations on all major security-related challenges facing the Pacific region and the Indian Army is expected to put forth its view in effectively dealing with these.
The PACC, being hosted by the US Army, is taking place in South Korea in the backdrop of fresh tension in the region following North Korea's nuclear test and China's aggressive posturing in the South China Sea.

The Indian Army is being represented at the biennial congregation of the top commanders by the Lt. Gen. B S Negi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command, a senior Army official said.
Various key security-related issues were discussed on the first day, he said.
The US Army has also sent a proposal to host the next PACC in 2019 jointly by India and the US, the official said.
Lt. Gen. Negi is likely to have one-on-one meetings with top commanders of a number of participating armies.
