Several travel baggage dealers in central Delhi's Nabi Karim area were booked today for their alleged involvement in sale of inferior-quality products bearing forged logos of a leading brand of suitcase-makers, police said.
More than 2,000 baggages bearing fake monogrammes of VIP were also recovered from their possession, they said.
A raid was conducted today based on a complaint by the company and the baggages -- mostly bearing fake 'Skybags' logo -- were seized, police said, adding, as many as 2000 baggages were recovered from the premises of one particular dealer.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of Indian Copyrights Act and investigation is underway, police added.
A senior official of the VIP firm said, "After receiving numerous complaints about the presence of duplicate products in the market, we decided to take stringent actions against those indulging in the misuse of the logo."
Easy availability of counterfeit products is a harsh reality in our country today and we are committed to stop this by conducting such raids regularly, he added.
