Shiv Sena demands Hindu as CM or Deputy CM in Punjab

The Punjab Shiv Sena today demanded that either the Chief Minister or at least the Deputy Chief Minister of the state should be a Hindu.
The demand was raised by Punjab Shiv Sena's president Sanjiv Ghanauli and chairman Rajiv Tandon in a state-level meeting at the Hanumangarhi temple complex here.
"Even though Hindus constitute 45 per cent of Punjab's population, no political party has given a thought about the issue after the creation of 'Punjabi Suba' in 1966," they said.
"Political outfits are doling out sops and largesse even to those communities whose population is just two to 12 per cent in the state and are conveniently ignoring Hindus," they alleged.

Sena activists will gherao the residence of Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh at Moti Mahal in Patiala on November 22 for their demand of a Hindu deputy chief minister, they announced.
"If Amarinder promises that the Deputy Chief Minister will be a Hindu if Congress was voted to power, the Sena will support the party in the upcoming assembly elections", they claimed.
"If he does not do so the Sena will 'gherao' residences of chiefs' of other political parties to secure the promise," they said.
In case no one promised so, the Sena will call upon the Hindu community of Punjab to boycott polls, they declared.
