"Shiv Sena's work will speak instead of its campaign. Work done by the Sena in this constituency is there for all to see and it will continue," Aaditya, son of Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, said during a road show in Bandra.
Asked if Congress's Narayan Rane or the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM would) be a factor in the bypoll, Aaditya said, "You should ask this question to them. These parties may think they are important. However, in this constituency people think that the Sena is important."
The contest between Congress candidate Rane and Sena's Trupti Sawant, the widow of sitting MLA Prakash Sawant, who died of cancer last year, is expected to be a close one.
For Rane, who was defeated on his homeground Malvan in last year's Assembly elections, winning the seat which the Sena had won in the last two Assembly polls, would be a resurrection of sorts.
