Highlighting the role of short films in fostering an environment against "radical and terror forces" across the world, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said that short films can play a vital role by exposing these forces and therefore should be promoted.
Addressing the opening session of International Festival of Short Films on Culture and Tourism here, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs said that short films and documentaries can bring a revolution against the challenges posed by terrorism and radicalism and the government would make steps to support them.
"Radical and terror forces have no religion. They just misuse the name of religion as their security cover and kill humanity.
"Short films can play a vital role in exposing the nefarious designs and destructive mentality of these evil forces," he said.
There is a need for a campaign by short films and documentaries makers in this regard, he said.
Naqvi said that social media is a fine platform for such short films in the present times and they can effectively play an important role against such evil forces.
The minister also said that a collective global effort was needed against terrorism.
Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee was among others who attended the inaugural ceremony at the Jawahar Kala Kendra.
