Siberian dog stolen from Vasant Kunj area

Following a van of cattle thieves turned dangerous for curious Zaru, a one-year-old Siberian dog, which was forcibly taken away by the gang while it was out for morning walk with its master in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area.
"A case of theft has been registered in connection with the matter at Vasant Kunj (south) Police Station and investigation is underway," a senior police official said today.
The incident took place around 7 AM on Friday, when Aftab Khan had taken Zaru for a morning walk in a park close to his residence in Vasant Kunj. The dog spotted a Toyota Innova car moving at a slow pace with a pig inside it, Khan said.

Curious Zaru started following the car and barked at its occupants. Suddenly, around 4-5 persons stepped out, put Zaru inside the van and sped away towards a forested area nearby.
Khan chased the van for a while but failed to note down its registration number, he told police in his complaint.
During investigation, it emerged that a similar car had been earlier spotted in a nearby area where a number of pig theft cases were reported, suggesting the involvement of a gang of cattle thieves in the incident, the official said, adding efforts are being made to nab the accused at the earliest.

Zaru, a male Siberian Husky, was procured by Khan last year. "Zaru is a favourite among family members and we shall make all efforts to track him," he said.
Khan and his family also uploaded a video on you tube for people to identify the missing dog in which it can be seen getting a haircut. The family is planning to stick missing posters to help track Zaru at the earliest, he said.
