Veteran filmmakers Martin Scorsese's "Silence" and Clint Eastwood's "Sully" were snubbed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Golden Globe nominations that were announced today.
Neither the films nor the lead actors -Liam Neeson and Tom Hanks- were nominated in any of the categories of 74th Golden Globe Award.
Sci-fi film "Arrival," which earned two nods in best actress for Amy Adams and best original score category, was also not able to make it to the best picture nomination list.
Both "Hidden Figures" and "Fences" scored two nominations each, but were left out of a couple of top categories.
While "Manchester by the Sea" scored five nominations, just behind "La La Land" and "Moonlight," Lucas Hedges was left out of the best supporting actor drama category despite earning rave reviews for his performance.
Seth Rogen's critically-acclaimed film "Sausage Party" and one of the years most loved movie "Finding Dory" could not make it to the best animated film category while "Zootopia" earned a spot.
In the television, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who won a Critic's Choice award for his role as Negan on "The Walking Dead," could not make it to the the Globe's list.
"Game of Thrones" favorite Kit Harington was also missing from the list of TV actors.
"Orange is the New Black," "Silicon Valley" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" are among the hit TV comedies which were completely ignored in the nomination list.
"Mr Robot," which won best drama series at last year ceremony, was not nominated for season two though its stars earned nods.
"Empire" was completely shut out of the running as well, failing to earn a nomination for lead actors Taraji P Henson and Terrence Howard, or for best drama series. Netflix's "House of Cards" and "Black Mirror" were also missing.
