Silos, godowns exempted from EDC in Punjab

Punjab government today said it will exempt silos or godowns meant for storing foodgrain from External Development Charges (EDC).
The move is aimed at facilitating companies or individuals for setting up silos/godowns meant for storing the agriculture produce and food grains.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman of said the exemption would be implemented only on the silos/godowns used for storing the agriculture produce and the food grains.
The exemption application should be forwarded by the concerned authority certifying that the Silos were being used for storing only food grains.
