Singapore court jails Swiss for having paid sex with teenager

A Singapore court today jailed a Swiss national for having sex with a minor girl to four months and three weeks.
Juerg Buergin, 41, was found guilty on charges of paid sex with an underage girl in September 2010 who was victim of a high-profile online vice ring.
District Judge Eddy Tham said the former bank executive showed no signs of remorse and was "reckless" in not verifying the age of the minor.
Judge Tham said that "alarm bells should have rung" for Buergin when the pimp told him that the girl had to be home early due to parental control.

Buergin, father of two, did not show any concern nor bothered to make any verbal enquiry with her, he noted.
Buergin was among the 51 men involved in the high profile online vice ring. The girl was prime offer by the pimp.
Eighteen men had been dealt with and on average each man was jailed for 12 weeks. But Buergin had claimed trial.
