Facing flack over his absence from the national capital when the Delhi government was battling outbreak of vector-borne diseases, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today decided to hold review meetings everyday with head of different departments to ensure speedy and time-bound works.
Starting the series of such meetings, Sisodia today met with the heads of four departments- Environment, Information Technology, Revenue and Forest- at the secretariat here, two days after he returned from his official visit to Finland.
A senior government official said the Deputy CM has asked all departments to stress on outcome of schemes rather than on achieving spending targets and stating how much money was spent on particular project.
Sisodia's recent visit to Finland to study the country's education system courted controversy with Opposition saying AAP ministers was "missing" from the capital when it battled the dengue and chikungunya crises.
"The Deputy CM will hold numbers of meetings to review works of departments regularly. He has asked officers to stress on outcome instead of getting into data of estimates of various projects. From today, he has started holding meetings with HoDs," the official said.
In today's meeting, the HoDs gave presentations on their various projects and schemes.
If there is any specific point that needs to be dealt with separately, the Minister will call separate meeting, the officer said.
"The Deputy CM was upset with the forest department over tree census not being conducted. He sought to know why the department has not conducted tree census so far.
"The main purpose of the meetings is to ensure works being done by various departments are expedited," another official said.
