A Special Investigating Team was today formed by the CID to investigate into the theft in the Jessop factory in Dum Dum where fire broke out on Monday evening.
According to a senior official of the CID, the Special Investigating Team (SIT), consisting of 10 officials under SS (South) Subhankar Bhattacharya, was formed to look into the theft and alleged arson at the factory premise.
Four persons were arrested and five others were detained by the CID yesterday in connection with the theft cases registered.
Asked if anybody was detained or arrested today, the official said, "We have not arrested nor detained anybody today. We are talking to the four arrested yesterday. They are giving us convoluted versions. We are checking their movements and trying to find out how many others are involved in it."
Fire broke out in the painting department of the vacant factory on Monday evening, the third time in two weeks.
Former workers alleged that the fire was part of a conspiracy by a third party following which the state government ordered a CID probe into the mishaps.
Incidentally, the state has also registered a complaint on Jessop owner Pawan Ruia at Dum Dum police station.
