According to an official release issued here today by the Telangana DGP office, the SIT met under the leadership of senior IPS officer Shah Nawaz Qasim to discuss the investigation plan to be followed.
Four teams have been formed to probe various angles, the release said.
One police team visited Warangal whereas another team has been sent to Nalgonda to collect various evidences, material objects and other documents relevant to the investigation, the release said.
According to the police version of the incident, on April 7, while being brought to a court here from a prison in Warangal district, Viquar Ahmed asked the police van to be stopped in order to answer nature's call.
After returning to the van, he snatched the rifle of a police constable and opened fire. The other four prisoners also tried to snatch the weapons of accompanying policemen and were killed after the police fired in "self defence", the police had claimed.
On April 28, the Hyderabad High Court had rejected the plea for a second postmortem to be conducted on the bodies of Viquar and others after his father Mohammed Ahmed had alleged that the killing of Viquar and his four associates was a "pre-planned murder" by police.
