The two-day conference scheduled to take place on April 9 and 10 at Symbiosis's Lavale campus, will be preceded by curtain raiser roundtable discussion on 'Building World Class Universities' on April 8.
Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar would inaugurate the conference.
While talking to reporters, Principal Director, SIU, Vidya Yeravdekar said educationists, leaders from institutions, academics, and researchers from around the globe, would attend the conference.
"Renowned Indian policy makers, legislators, civil servants, and members of civil society organisations will participate in the discussion," said Yeravdekar.
The focus will be on the advantages and challenges of internationalisation of higher education and have discussions on the ethos and dynamics of Internationalisation of Higher Education in the country and across borders.
Yeravdekar said the event marks the beginning of a new phase in the initiatives on internationalisation of higher education in India.
"Various sessions will deliberate the significance of creating an institutional ecosystem for internationalisation and will include wide-ranging subjects such as varied theoretical concepts in understanding internationalisation of higher education, internationalisation in respect of the regulatory framework and public policy, internationalisation as an institutional mission and organisational practice, 'best practices' across institutions, limitations of cross-border mobility, and intercultural integration," she said.
"On the whole, this conference expects to harness strategies, expertise, and resources in internationalisation across the widest spectrum of the higher education community in India and abroad," she said.
Delegates from organisations engaged in global academic rankings will share their views in the discussions and workshops, led by vice chancellors of Indian and International Universities, subject experts in the field of internationlisation of higher education.
