Skill development scheme for madrasa students to be launched

Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla and Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh will tomorrow in Patna jointly launch the first pilot project as part of a skill development programme for madrasa students.
The project will be inaugurated on the same day in two madrasas in Motihari district as well via remote video link side by side with the main launch event in Patna, which will take place in Idara-e-Shar'iya at Sultanganj.
"This training programme started under the Skill Development Programme of Maulana Azad National Academy for Skill (MANAS) is being undertaken in the traditional educational institutions of minorities for the first time.
"The programme is aimed at providing an opportunity of skill development training to the minority students at these institutions without any intervention in its educational activities near their home," an official statement said.
It will also benefits girls and women living nearby and madrasa students may find it easier to gain employment after taking part in the training.
The government will ensure employment of 75 per cent of th students trained under MANAS and provide low interest loans to those students who intend to start their own business, the statement added.
