A sniffer dog of CRPF's Cobra battalion which was killed in an IED blast by Maoists was today buried with state honours here.
The carcass of three-year-old male dog, Belgian shepherd 'Aminika', was brought here by chopper before it was wrapped in the tricolour and the last rite was performed at 211 CRPF battalion premises following a post-mortem.
The blast occurred when the Belgian shepherd 'Aminika' was searching for explosives planted in the naxal-affected jungle in Burha Pahar in Latehar district. Its handler P K Samal also sustained injury in the explosion.
Senior officials paid floral tributes to 'Aminika' which was trained in infantry patrolling and explosive sniffing.
Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Singh said the dog sacrificed its life and saved the lives of many jawans during the search operation in Burha Pahar.
It was a irreparable loss to the security forces, he said.
'Aminika' was inducted into 207 Cobra battalion as explosive sniffer expert and detected many explosives planted in Burha Pahar during the search operation, Singh said.
Meanwhile, the police yesterday announced a reward of Rs one crore for providing information about wanted Maoist Arvind Singh alias Deo Kumar Singh.
The Maoist ultra had been spotted in villages in and around Burha Pahar.
Police said the details of the informer would be kept confidential.
