Sonowal asks all depts to utilise budget funds by March 31

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today asked all state government departments to utilise the funds allocated under the Budget for 2017-18 by March 31 next year.
"The Chief Minister directed the departments to ensure utilisation of budget allotted funds within March 31, 2018 and also asked the department heads to adopt proper action plans to expeditiously utilise the funds within stipulated time in the right way," an official release said.
Chairing a meeting to review the fund utilisation, Sonowal sought the expenditure status of all departments till now and directed the top officers of the departments to hold review meetings with subordinates every two months to ensure proper implementation of planned works.
Saying that every department must perform their duties with utmost professionalism, he urged the department heads to complete the works within March 31 without any delay.
"He also directed to ensure employment of local youths in the construction sector and to facilitate engagement of the engineers passing out from the engineering colleges of the state in the construction field," the statement said.
The Chief Minister was informed about the various schemes being implemented by the departments in the meeting and he emphasised on competitive spirit in carrying out the works by every department.
