Soumitra Chatterjee launches his official facebook page
Press Trust of India Kolkata Thespian Soumitra Chatterjee today launched his official facebook page to communicate with his lakhs of fans all over the world.
"My own facebook page is being officially launched from today and I promise to go on facebook live occasionally if pressed by my friends," Soumitra Chatterjee said at a film teaser launch programme here.
"I won't take responsibility of any other facebook page bearing my name. I will interact with my fans through this official facebook page, my first tryst with the social media," the 82-year old actor, who had first worked with Satyajit Ray in "Apur Sansar" in 1959, the third part of the Apu trilogy, said.
The facebook page will have the name of the 'Charulata' actor as Soumitra Chattopadhyay and give regular updates about his works and projects and views.
"I am completely unaware about the latest trends in social network. Today's younger generation is more conversant with the internet, but once Prosenjit Chatterjee insisted on me joining facebook I had to relent," the veteran actor, having worked in over 300 films in his long career, said.
Bengali film superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee said, "Soumitra Chatterjee is feted by Bengalis all over the world. And we had long felt the need to have an official face book page with which he can connect with his lakhs of fans."
"It will not take much time for him to be conversant with social network and we are looking forward to Soumitrakaku tweeting his thoughts regularly after some time," he said adding a team will run the facebook page.
"While in past our communication with fans would be through signing autograph on chits and getting fan letters in post box, all these have been replaced by a fan's selfie with the favourite actor and posting comments and likes at his/her facebook status or twitter handle. Soumitra Chatterjee is a timeless icon," Prosenjit said.
Soumitra Chatterjee launched the facebook page in presence of Prosenjit and many other prominent Bengali film actors at the teaser launch of their upcoming film 'Mayurakshi' where they essay the roles of father and son.
