The amount is Rs 494.36 crore more than the corresponding period of last year, SER spokesman Sanjay Ghosh said here.
SER loaded 96.58 million tonnes of freight in the first eight months of 2016-2017 against 86.78 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period last year, registering a growth of 11.29 per cent.
The regional railway has also surpassed Railway Board's freight loading target for the first eight months of 2016-17 by loading 4.07 per cent more than the target, he said.
The loading of cement during the above period has also gone up by 22.95 per cent, he added.
