"The SP government has failed to check communal violence in the state. In past one year at least 12 communal riots have taken place", leader of Opposition Swami Prasad Maurya said during question hour in the Assembly.
Maurya said that in BSP's four term in Uttar Pradesh not a single incident of communal tension was reported but as soon as Samajwadi Party formed the government the situation has changed.
The discussion started on question of BSP member Dharmpal Singh, who sought to know from the government whether national integration department of the state have formed integration committees in district level.
In his reply, concerned minister Brahma Shankar Tripathi said that out of 75 districts he got information in this regard from 44 districts and response was awaited from the rest of the districts.
Amidst noisy scenes, Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey asked opposition to raise the matter in the House during discussion on law and order later in the day.
