Official sources said only three terrorists could infiltrate through the LoC from across the border in the first two months of 2015. However, in January and February this year, at least 10 terrorists sneaked through the LoC to enter Jammu and Kashmir.
During winter, infiltration is always low. However, this year, the winter did not last long and terrorists are suspected to have taken advantage of the favourable weather, sources said.
In 2014, there were 222 infiltration attempts in the state of which 65 were successful. A total of 52 terrorists were killed by the security forces that year.
Altogether, 208 terror incidents took place in the Valley in 2015 in which 39 security personnel and 17 civilians were killed.
There were 222 terrorist incidents in J-K in 2014 in which 47 security personnel and 28 civilians were killed, he added.
There were 253 instances of ceasefire violation along the IB in 2015, 430 in 2014 and 148 in 2013.
