A Sri Lankan Navy officer has been quizzed by the police over alleged disappearances of several people during the last phase of war against the LTTE.
"Following complaints received since 2010, the CID yesterday recorded a statement from a Naval officer," police spokesman and Superintendent Ajith Rohana said.
This was to probe accusations that Navy may have been responsible for abductions and disappearances of several young men and their parents between 2007 and 2009.
"All these relate to incidents that had allegedly happened between 2006 and 2009," Rohana said.
The year 2006 and 2009 was the peak of the government's successful military campaign against the LTTE.
Sri Lanka government's human rights accountability under the former regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa received international attention.
The UN Human Rights Council passed resolutions against Lanka while an international investigation was also launched.
Under pressure, Rajapaksa appointed his own probe which is still in the process of gathering information on the disappeared.
