Kolkata-based fashion designer Agnimitra Paul today recalled her association with actor Sridevi and said she would remain thankful to the silver screen diva for giving her a break in Bollywood.
The designer had first met Sridevi at the latter's residence in Mumbai in 2000.
"She had given me my Bollywood break in 'Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe'. I did the costume for Esha Deol in the 2002 film. It was a turning point in my career and I will always be thankful to her," Paul told PTI.
'Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe', starring Sanjay Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Esha Deol, was produced by Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor.
The designer also remembered the veteran actor for her love for children.
"I used to wish her on her birthday and she would enquire about my two sons. She was very fond of children," she added.
Cricket legend Sourav Ganguly yesterday expressed shock over the death of Sridevi and recalled his encounter with the actor in a Bengali reality show.
Wearing a white saree with red border, Sridevi had appeared in 'Dadagiri', a show hosted by Ganguly, to promote her film 'Mom' in June last year.
"So shocked to hear the news of Sridevi ji... met her few months ago at my show.... just can't believe it," Ganguly tweeted yesterday.
The actress, during her appearance in the reality show last year, had swayed to the beats of 'Hawa Hawai'.
"I am happy to be here. It is a lovely experience to be present at Dada's (Ganguly) show... I consider him my favourite cricketer," she had said.
Ganguly, too, had wished her luck for her film 'Mom' and said he had loved her performances in 'Sadma', 'Lamhe', 'Chalbaaz'.
Eminent personalities of West Bengal, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, had expressed their grief and shock over the veteran actor's death yesterday.
The Dubai government said today the veteran actor died of accidental drowning in her hotel bath tub after losing consciousness.
The actor's mortal remains are yet to arrive in Mumbai from Dubai.
