A condolence meeting was held on the college's seminar room around 11 am which was attended by Prinicpal Prof John Varghese, Bursar Dr Renish Geevarghese, teachers, staff and students.
An inter-faith prayer was held wherein religious scriptures were recited.
"St stephen's College is deeply saddened by the demise of its students who were on a trip to Kerala. The entire college community joins the bereaved families in this tragic moment," Varghese said.
Aditya Patel, Anubhav Chandra and Kenneth Jose, and a private resort owner Benny, had drowned last evening in Periyat at Paniyeli Poru- a tourist spot.
Patel's family has also reached Kerala from Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) while Chandra's family were travelling from Jehanabad in Bihar to take back his body, he said.
After the incident, the bodies were recovered and kept at the Taluk hospital at Perumbavoor.
Patel and Chandra were final year students of Sanskrit undergraduate programme while Kenneth had recently joined the college as an undergraduate student of Chemistry.
The teachers of Aditya and Anubhav remembered them as bright young boys who were good in studies and enthusiastic about extra-curricular activities.
Police said the students had gone to Kerala as part of a group of 11 students and 2 wardens to visit famous tourist spots in the state.
The incident occurred at Paniyeli Poru where the river has dangerous clusters of slippery rocks, near Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district, they said.
