State govt official commits suicide after loss in business

Unable to come to terms with heavy losses incurred in his online business, a state government official today allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of an express train as it was leaving the railway station here.
Police said Dakshinamurthy, working in revenue department in Kinathukadavu on the city outskirts, was running the online business jointly with his brother-in-law. He had appeared distressed of late after heavy business losses and voiced them to his wife, they said.
This morning he went to the railway station and jumped in front of the Mayiladurhurai bound Jan Shatabdi express.
His body was later retrieved and given to his wife and relatives after post-mortem.
