Delhi University's minority colleges such as St Stephen's and Jesus and Mary college will now join the centralised admission process from the upcoming academic session rather than having separate registrations.
The university's 24-member admission committee, today took a decision in this regard. These institutions, however, will continue with their own admission policy of selection of students.
The admission committee has been recommending that all colleges under DU should participate in the centralized online registration process. Minority institutions like St Stephen's and Jesus and Mary used to have their own separate admission policies including separate registration.
"It has been decided that these colleges will not have separate registrations but will be part of the centralised registration process. However, thereafter they will follow their own admission policy for selection of students," a committee member said.
Three colleges run by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC)-Mata Sundari College for Women, Sri Guru Nanak Dev (SGND) Khalsa College and Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce -- which were granted minority status by the Delhi High Court last year, have also approached the university authorities to permit them to have independent admission process from the upcoming session.
The committee comprising deans from faculties of science, commerce and arts, nine college principals and members from the executive and academic councils, is working on an admission policy for the upcoming academic session which will be notified by end of this month.
