A day after sanitation workers called off their strike over non-payment of salaries, BJP and AAP leaders took to the streets as part of cleanliness drive carried out in different parts of the national capital.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Ashutosh and Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay, led respective party workers in wielding brooms in different parts of the city.
While Sisodia took part in cleanliness drive in east Delhi's Patparganj area which is his constituency, Upadhyay wielded the broom in Akshardham area, also in east Delhi.
AAP's Sanjay Singh, Ashutosh and Dilip Pandey led party volunteers to clean up garbage in Hari Nagar, Chandni Chowk and Karawal Nagar respectively.
Yesterday, around 15,000 sanitation workers called off their 12-day-long strike, averting a looming health crisis hours after Lt Governor Najeeb Jung announced the release Rs 493 crore for their salaries.
Congress vice-president Rahul yesterday met the agitating workers outside East Delhi MCD office in Patparganj and attacked the Centre and Delhi Government for "failing to deliver" on their "tall promises" and accused them of passing the buck on each other.
