Student assaulted, admitted to JIPMER

A student of Pondicherry University was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified gang while he was taking breakfast in the canteen on the premises of the institution today, police said.
Mohammaed Shahid who sustained injuries on the head was rushed to the hospital.
Pondicherry university had been witnessing student agitation for last few days and agitating students wanted removal of the Vice Chancellor Dr Chandra Krishnamoorthy for her alleged administrative lapses and nepotism.
PCC president A Namassivayam who visited the student at the hospital told newsmen that the university should stop aggravating the situation.
