Student found dead in hostel in Karnataka

A 17-year-old student at a pre-university college was found dead in his room in the college hostel at Kodailbail here today, police said.
The deceased, identified as Mavel Mendonsa, belonging to Mumbai, was alone in the room last night as his room-mate had gone on leave, police said.
The hostel warden was checking the rooms and when there was no response from Mendonsa's room, peeped in through the ventilator to find the boy hanging from the roof, they said.
On being informed police rushed to the hostel and broke open the lock.
There was no clue as to why the boy took the extreme step, police said.

The staff and students of the college held a meeting to condole the death.
Meanwhile, student group Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) demanded an investigation into the death.
