Students of three private colleges lifted the blockade after district officials assured to resolve their issue at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh condemned the "brutal" lathicharge by the police on students, which left several of them seriously injured, while they were demanding scholarships.
In a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder demanded strict action against the officials responsible for resorting to such "brute force" against the peaceful students and an apology from the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal for the "brutal police excesses" today.
