Sub lieutenant killed in accidental firing onboard INS Kuthar

A sub lieutenant of the Indian Navy was today killed after he accidentally fired his 9mm pistol onboard INS Kuthar, a Khukri-class corvette.
Navy sources said Sub Lt Tejveer Singh of INS Kuthar, whilst handling firearms onboard, accidentally fired a round and was injured around 1430 hours.
He was immediately shifted to the Naval Hospital INHS Kalyani where he died, the sources said.
Singh hailed from Haryana. His family has been informed of the incident.
A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident.
