The film will mark 68-year-old Ghai's return to the director's chair after a gap of five years. His last film as a director was Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer 'Yuvvraaj' in 2005.
"Wow. Finally my film 'Kaanchi' is set to release on April 11, 2014. A day I have been waiting for last 5 years with so much in me," Ghai posted on Twitter.
Ghai has also produced 'Kaanchi', which stars Kartik Tiwari and newcomer actress Mishti, alongwith veterans like Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty.
Actor Chandan Roy Sanyal, who has an important role in the film also shared the happy news on the micro-blogging site.
