Sugar prices witness divergent trend
Press Trust of India Mumbai A divergent trend was witnessed at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today with medium sugar rising modestly on good retail offtake while small sugar prices fell on subdued demand from stockist and millers.
Medium sugar (M-30) climbed by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,236/3,421 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 3,232/3,421.
However, Small sugar (S-30) moved down by Rs 5 per quintal to Rs 3,142/3,236 from Rs 3,142/3,241.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,142/3,236 (Rs 3,142/3,241.
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,236/3,421 (Rs 3,232/3,421).
