A warder of the central jail here suspended over "extortion" charges has claimed in a video that false allegations were levelled against him and he is going to commit suicide, a charge dismissed as "blackmail tactics" by a senior prisons official.

In the video, which is going viral on social media since last night, warder Y Srinivas purportedly accused the Deputy Superintendent of the Cherlapally central prison of being behind the 'false' allegations and said the official would be responsible for his "suicide".

"Due to the false allegations, I am committing suicide and action should be taken against those responsible for my death," the warder, suspended on August 4, said in the video shot in the background of a railway track.

Srinivas, who is reportedly missing now, has urged Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy to look into the matter.

However, DIG (Prisons) Akula Narasimha said Srinivas had resorted to such "blackmail tactics" and "cheap tricks" after a case was registered against him and following his suspension in order to avoid further consequences.

The warder was suspended by the department on Saturday last following an inquiry which established that he "indulged in extortion of money" from released prisoners.

Asked about reports that he had gone missing, the DIG said "none of his family members have turned up to him over his claims".
