Suspended Kirorimal College principal moves HC

Issuing notices to the DU and the college, Justice Suresh Kait sought their replies by August 21 on Singh's plea, which contended that the suspension order was "illegal and biased."

"The move is with a malafide intention on the part of the university authorities," Singh said.

Singh was placed under suspension "with immediate effect pending conclusion of an inquiry into his actions" by an order of the KMC governing body, issued after a meeting convened by the university's vice chancellor.

The decision came after Singh had levelled corruption charges against KMC governing body chairman Baleshwar Rai, a retired IAS officer.

Singh has been asked to hand over the charge of principal to S P Gupta with immediate effect.

Singh had alleged Rai faced several charges, including misappropriation of funds and molestation and demanded his removal from the post.

"The chairperson of the governing body should be removed immediately from his post in the light of his high-handed and undemocratic behaviour as well as the seriousness of the charges that have been levelled against him," the teaching staff association of the college said while supporting Singh.

Singh claimed that he had entered the bad books of the university since 2010 when he had sided with Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) and protested against the semester system.
