"The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched on Gandhi Jayanti in 2014 stands exposed today, on the birth anniversary of the Mahatma. It had no impact in MP. Rather, BJP leaders have been jostling to get their pictures clicked with brooms in their hands," Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesman Narendra Saluja said.
He said that the cities have become a dumping ground of waste.
The condition of rural areas is more worrisome, he said, adding that filth and garbage lying unclaimed has become a major cause for outbreak of diseases in the state.
