Responding to the allegations levelled against her by BJP leader MP Singh Goraya, Dalbir, said to be a sister of Sarabjeet, who was killed in a Pakistan jail two years ago, today said even though Swapandeep's marksheet bear her and her husband Baldev Singh's name, the girl is Sarabjit's daughter.
"When my husband, Baldev Singh, took her (Swapandeep) to school for admission, the school authorities said that the girl will admitted only if her parent were educated. Hence, my husband got our name registered as her parents as Sarbajit was in Pakistan and his wife Sukhpreet was uneducated," Dalbir said.
Notably, after Sarabjit was killed in a Pakistan jail in 2013, Punjab government had announced a job for his daughter following which Swapandeep Kaur, who then claimed to be his daughter, was awarded the job of a Naib Tehsildar.
Accusing Dalbir of forgery, Goraya, the Punjab in-charge of BJP's Backward Cell, had yesterday alleged that she has got her daughter appointed as Tehsildar instead of her brother's and demanded CBI probe into the alleged fraud case.
Poonam is Sarabjit's only daughter, they claimed adding that Dalbir has falsely presented Swapandeep as Sarabjit's daughter and fraudulently got her the job.
