At present, over 1,000 people are suffering from swine flu and lives of these people are in "danger", BJP Delhi unit president Manoj Tiwari said.
He alleged that the city government is only issuing "political statements" instead of taking steps to prevent the disease.
"People of Delhi cannot be left at the mercy of the insensitive Kejriwal government. A medical emergency should be declared in Delhi by the Lt Governor for preventing swine flu," Tiwari said.
However, the four central government hospitals in Delhi have put the toll due to the H1N1 virus at 47.
All the hospitals in the national capital, including the four central government hospitals notify the swine flu case figures and deaths to the Delhi government.
H1N1 influenza, commonly known as swine flu, is a respiratory flu and has symptoms like fever, sore throat, headache, cough, runny nose, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting.
