Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari today fainted while delivering a speech at an event organised in Warangal city owing to the extreme heat conditions in the state.
The event was organised as part of the third anniversary of the state's formation.
Srihari after taking salute of the parade held at the police parade grounds suddenly collapsed on the dais while giving the speech, but the security personnel standing behind him rushed to his help and prevented him from falling on the floor.
"At around 9.35 AM, the Deputy CM who was delivering speech felt some giddiness and collapsed. As he was about to fall, I and other police officials rushed towards him and he fell on my arms," said Warangal Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu, who shared the stage with Srihari.
"As he fainted, we moved him to a car and gave him ORS. After the doctors attended to him, the Deputy CM regained consciousness. Within five minutes, he went back to the dais and completed his speech and also witnessed cultural programmes organised as part of the Telangana Formation Day," Babu told PTI via phone.
The Deputy CM later left for his home and after relaxing for about one hour, he took part in events organised in different parts of Warangal.
A team of doctors conducted his medical examination and a report is expected by tomorrow, the senior police officer said, adding he was doing fine.
The Deputy CM was not feeling comfortable in view of the heat conditions which could have led to his collapse, the officer added.
