Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board has ordered a probe after just 22 overs could be played in the fourth cricket Test between India and West Indies due to waterlogged outfield.
The ground staff didn't adequately cover the outfield on day one, when rain first came, and then repeated showers as well as poor drainage meant that no play was possible beyond the 22 overs bowled in the first session on day one.
As such, India had to contend with the No. 2 spot in Test rankings, with Pakistan gaining the No. 1 status for the first time ever.
"As hosts, the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board and Queen's Park Cricket Club regret that limited play was possible in the 4th Test Match between West Indies and India," Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board president Azim Bassarath said in a statement.
"We have jointly launched an investigation to determine what occurred with a view to remedying the situation so that this does not occur in the future," he added.
India won the four-Test series 2-0 after winning the first and third match at North Sound and Gros Islet. India will play two T20 internationals against West Indies in Florida on August 27th and 28th.
