Stating that the TDP government in Andhra Pradesh has failed to get funds from the Centre as part of the Budget, YSR Congress today alleged that there was a "conspiracy" to water down Polavaram project in the state.
"Being a coalition partner, N Chandrababu Naidu has not convened any meeting with his party members to set the agenda for the priorities of the state. Instead it seems that he is hand-in-glove in watering down the Polavaram Irrigation project by promoting Pattiseema project," YSR Congress spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said.
"The neglect of Andhra Pradesh in the budget is nothing but failure of Chandrababu Naidu government in pursuing with core issues with the Centre. His tall claims of going to Delhi eight times has fell flat as the special status issue did not materialise. He is more interested in self promotion and the welfare of his coterie and has never considered people's welfare," a release quoted Rambabu as saying.
The failure in pushing the Polavaram project, special status for Andhra Pradesh and release of adequate funds has shown the true colours of Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, who were very vociferous during the state division and are now silent, he further alleged.
"There is no mention of special railway zone at Waltair and when it comes to general budget, no funds were released to match the expenditure of capital formation, completion of Polavaram project by 2018 and according special status to Andhra Pradesh," the YSRCP leader said.
Instead of raising his voice of dissent after the Budget was announced, Naidu should have convened a meeting of his party ministers and MPs to prepare a wish list before hand, but that was not the case, he added.
"Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu stating that there is no mention of according national project status to Polavaram in State Reorganisation Act and the allocation of a paltry Rs 100 crore shows that both the Centre and state government are working in tandem to scuttle Polavaram and promote Pattiseema for which state has allocated Rs 1,300 crores and the stage is set for calling tenders," the release quoted Rambabu as saying.
