The incident occurred in Pebbair of the district when a TRS worker threw a bottle at Lokesh's convoy minutes before he was to address the public as part of campaigning, they said.
Police immediately intervened and whisked away the TRS workers and the programme continued.
"After Lokesh's election programme got over, a mob of TDP workers damaged and set on fire a car in which the TRS workers had come. There was no disruption to the election programme," a senior police officer said.
During the incident, a TDP leader Narasimhalu slipped and fell down from a campaign vehicle during the incident, sources said.
